This is a custom made omni-wheel driven robot. The robot consists of a top pan/tile turret to hold smart-phone and a mobile base to perform omni-directional movement.  The firmware of the turret and firmware of mobile platform are available. They are developed under Arduino IDE programming platform and are open freely to modify to suit any applications. 

The project is to develop an smart phone app to control this robot for a particular application.  The application is open to student to propose.   

An example of application is security patrol.  The patrol app enables the robot to do self autonomous navigation. It can control the pan/title turret to use front/rear camera to monitor the sub-rounding  and makes alarm or alerts to staff in control center if any suspicious circumstance occupied. 

This robot itself  is also open for enhancement.   Student may make extra accessories for the application.  For the patrol example, it can be  infra-red light torch for night guarding. Students can use 3D modelling printing to make any accessories.  

For this project, familiarity in C/C++ and Java programming is definitely a plus. Tutorials will be given on 3D printing, 3D modelling,  Arduino programming platform and Android app development. This project is best for a group of 2 students.
